  • Be Relaxed

Women’s Makeup:

Please wear your makeup as you do when you go out to a dinner or job interview.

Your headshot should look like you on your very best day. There is no need to do anything different or new with your makeup for a headshot session. We’ll make adjustments just before we shoot if needed.

Do bring –

  • A small makeup kit
  • compact mirror
  • concealer/ foundation
  • mascara
  • lipstick
  • eyeliner
  • blush
  • hairspray / product
  • comb/brush
  • VISINE Eye Drops
  • LIP GLOSS

Clothing:

Solid colors in tones that complement your skin, hair and eyes. What you would wear to an audition or professional interviews is what you should wear in your headshot.

  • Three or four distinct looks are good to have. Sporty, Casual, Formal, Business.
  • Layers give us more options. (i.e., ribbed knit tops, light cardigan, ties, or jackets.)

Go through your closet and play with different looks. What kind of roles have you been called in for? What kind of roles do you want?

Do – Clean and press your clothes. They should look close to new.
DON’T WEAR – stripes, busy patterns, shirts with logos or prints, excessive cleavage, big jewelry, anything that can be read.

The headshot is about you not your clothes.

  • VISINE
  • Comb/Brush
  • Hair Product

What to look for in a Headshot Photographer in L.A.

KAIZEN PHOTOGRAPHY

I heard someone say that “the Good is the Enemy of The Best”. For a long time I thought being good enough was what it took to succeed in life. Yes, good enough gets you to a level where you are allowed to play. Most people can be happy with that.

Like athletes who play beach Volleyball on the weekends, good enough will get you on a team. Only the best, however are allowed to play at the AVP. Misty May and Kerri Walsh are the best of the best. They are the million dollar players, doing what they love.

You’re an actor in Los Angeles. There are thousands of good actors out there, but only a handfull are considered the best. So you take classes and workout to be in the best physical form. You do theater for little to no pay just to keep acting. You strive to be the best at your craft. Expect nothing less from your team – Agent, Manager, Acting Coach, Classmates, and Headshot Photographer.

Surround yourself with greatness, and be inspired to be great at what you do.

As a photographer, I’ve researched and learned from the best people doing Headshots in Hollywood. There are a lot of Headshot photographers out there. Most of them charge about the same. Some charge very little, because that’s their level of service and skill. Some charge too much just because they have famous friends So choosing by price isn’t the best way to go. You look at their work and it looks good.

The photographer you choose is the one you have the best rapport with.

Making a great headshot for an actor is an art. You have to care about your craft and hone it. And its not just about being good with a camera. After, learning about the physics of light and how it affects a photograph, making a truthful connection with your actor is the most important part.

Giving excellent service is the what puts you above the rest. I believe in actors and their pursuit of a dream, so I do my very best to give the very best service and produce Headshots that get you noticed.

“A good headshot might get you into a casting office. A GREAT Headshot will get you in there often.”

The rest is up to you.
