The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be holding a special awards presentation for Micheal and the team at Rhythm and Hues. These are the amazing artists/scientists who create the software responsible for the most sophisticated special effects and animation in the movies you see today.

Their latest credits include:

Alvin and the Chipmunks
The Golden Compass
I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry
Die Hard 4
Evan Almighty

And my daughter’s all time favorite Happy Feet

Despite the heavey use of animation and special effects, these movies still need actors. Actors like Jason Lee and Bruce Willis use their imaginations in front of a green or blue chroma key screen to react to characters and objects that aren’t really there.

How do you talk to imaginary chipmonks, or react to an imaginary car hurtling at you though the air?

The chipmonks and the car are added in later by the folks at Rhythm and Hues. They make it so believable, that the actors in the film must do their job to make us believe they are truly reacting to those things.

Animation and CGI Effects make an actor’s job more challenging. When it works, the end result is nothing short of amazing.

In Michael Kowalski’s case, its Oscar Award Winning.

Michael needed headshots for the Academy to use at the awards presentation. I had the pleasure of shooting with him this weekend.

Thank you Michael for choosing Kaizen Photography as your headshot service. Enjoy the Awards presentation!
